One of Uganda’s national parks, Semuliki, is located in the Bundibudgyo district in the country’s west. In 1993, it was designated as a national park with the intention of safeguarding various wildlife species. There are 448 butterfly species, 53 animal species, 9 primates, and 435 bird species in Semuliki National Park.

Aletis Helcita, streak of orange Common pathfinder, haritalodes polycymalis, cymothoe Cyclades, variable diadem, square-winged red charaxes, marcipalina conjuncta, hill bush brown, common mother of pearl, amata marina, polyptychus carteri, cymothoe confusa, African leaf butterfly, rhodope dotted border, blue diadem butterfly, peneleos Acraea, painted pearl, and boisduval’s tree nymph are a few of the species that are found in the area.

The best time of year for butterfly watching in Semuliki national park

Although visitors can visit Semuliki National Park at any time of year to see butterflies, the dry season is the ideal time to do so. The greatest times to visit the park are from June to September and December to February, when there is an abundance of sunshine and little to no rainfall. This indicates that the walking routes are dry and simpler to use, and the vegetation is sparse and short, allowing for unobstructed vistas and butterfly photography.
