4 Days Gorilla Tracking and Bisoke Hiking

This 4 Days Gorilla Tracking and Bisoke gives you a chance to track the endangered mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park. The volcano a part of the great Virunga massif comprised of 8 volcanoes. Rwanda has 10nhabituated gorilla families which are available to visitors at 1500 USD per permit to see these gentle primates. After racking the gorillas, you will have a chance to hike mount Bisoke. It is can be hiked for one day, taking about 8 hours to hike to the top and 3 hours to descend. At the top of this dormant volcano are a beautiful crater lake and perfect views of other summits of the Virunga Ranges.

Detailed Safari

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali Airport, City tour, and Drive to Volcanoes National Park.

Meet with our safari guide at the Airport who will welcome you into Rwanda, brief you about your 4 days of gorilla tracking, and start off your safari with a city tour in Kigali city. It is one of the cleanest cities in Africa surrounded by green rolling hills.

Drive to the Kigali Genocide memorial for a quick history of the Rwandans and the effects of the 1994 genocide against the Tusti, have a hot lunch in the City before you head out to the Northern Province of the country home to the Endangered mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park. The drive is so rewarding through the rolling hills and winding roads reaching in the evening for relaxation at the lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Visit the King’s Place Museum

After an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about the dos and don’ts during the trek. You will join groups of fellow trackers and head out into the dense forests of Volcanoes National Park to search for these gentle apes. The trackers are accompanied by rangers, researchers, and vet doctors and head out to the primates. On finding these gorillas, you are given an hour to watch and observe them as they carry on with their daily activities. The trekking activity requires some level of fitness since it involves a lot of hiking to find these gentle primates in their natural Habitat.

After trekking, you will head to the lodge for a hot lunch and prepare to visit the King’s Place Museum where you will have a chance to get to know the history of kingdom Rwanda, and also experience the Rwandan Royal culture, to dress like the way queens and Kings dress in Rwanda, enjoy the Rwandan Traditional Dances and music, return to the lodge for the night.

Day 3: Hiking Mount Bisoke

After an early breakfast, drive to the Park headquarters again for briefing, this time around for hiking the Bisoke Mountain. It is shared by Rwanda and Congo, it is one of the 8 volcanoes that can be hiked easily within one day. The hike requires some levels of fitness since it involves going to higher elevations. It is a scenic walk through the different levels of vegetation as you ascend to the top of the Volcanoes.

Once at the top, you will be rewarded with beautiful views of Crater lake, you will also be able to view other summits of the Virunga ranges while enjoying the cool fresh breeze at the top of this mountain. After some time of relaxation, you will embark on your descending journey, different small primates can be spotted along the trail like Monkeys, different forest birds species. Get back to the lodge for relaxation and for nightfall.

Day 4: Transfer Back to Kigali To End the Safari.

Wake up at leisure and have breakfast, checkout of the lodge, and embark on your return journey to Kigali, you will Have a stopover at Huye district and check out the ethnographic museum, one of the finest museums in Africa before proceeding to Kigali Town to End the Safari.
