4 Day Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari

This  4 Day Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari Holiday in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a habitat with a minimum of 400 mountain gorillas which is close to half of the 880 numbers that are known to thrive in the world. The magical hills offer impressive scenery and a sightseeing experience. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the most attractive national parks in Uganda with varied tracts of tropical rain forest and several animals. The park covers 795 km2 of a rain forest, swamps, rivers, and a few areas of grassland. It is home to more than 1,450 chimpanzees protected inside the park and in total thirteen primate species. Children have to be 15 years and above to be able to track the Chimpanzees, if you have children below 15 years they can engage in an educative forest walk.

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park with Bigodi Swamp walk

Start the Kibale, Gorilla, and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari Holiday with transfer to Kibale Forest National Park in the morning with the target to have lunch in Fort portal. (If you arrive from abroad the day before a night at a hotel in Kampala can be added.) After lunch, you will continue to the Bigodi swamp walk and Community Visit Dance experience.  Punctuation of stopovers in the far countryside offers us chances of stretching in villages and around tea plantations along the drive as we check in the late evening. Have a night in a beautiful area bordering Kibale Forest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Kibale forest national park is a rainy forest and a home to over 1500 Chimpanzees. During your morning chimps trekking, you will see them close and capture shots of our closest cousins in the Jungle in their frenzy exciting moods grooming! Besides the chimps, 9 different species of monkeys are found in this forest, for example, red colobus, red-tailed monkey, and bush babies. In the forest canopy colored aviation creatures-butterflies and various bird species like the native Great blue Turaco, joyful greenbul, olive long-tailed cuckoo and the superb black beef eater can be spotted. After the trek, we continue our Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari Holiday with the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. For dinner and Overnight at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Visit Experience

Very early in the morning, you will pack all the tracking documents, put good hiking boots and full tracking combat then head to the park for a pre-trekking briefing that starts at 8:00 am, when you join other colleagues in the same venture. The briefing session lasts for approximately 30 minutes after which you are allocated a gorilla family and a park ranger to lead you to the Jungle, where you will have either a lengthy or short tracking period depending on how far the apes have moved.

This can be roughly 4 or more hours, with one separate hour given to you upon finding the creatures, to watch the giant silverback, mothers feeding their young ones, and the entire family play, fight and grumble with each other, only waiting for a silverback to come and settle the dispute. Thereafter, you will have lunch, and then you will visit the Rushaga Batwa community where you will visit the native villages and many more interesting places in the community as well as engage in different dances, traditional songs, etc. before getting back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After your morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi. There is a shortlist of activities: canoeing, swimming (safe in this lake), hiking along the lake-shores, returning to the hotel, and relaxing / canoe ride along Lake Bunyonyi with small residents and exotic birds species singing.
