Overview

This 4-day gorilla and golden monkey trekking gives you a chance to track mountain gorillas in the Bwindi impenetrable forests and also a chance to experience the Golden monkeys in the Volcanoes National Park of Rwanda. The scenic drive from Kigali to Bwindi gives you a one-in-a-lifetime experience in only four days.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pickup from Kigali and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Meet up with an Alive Africa Adventures representative at the airport/ lodge and brief you about your 4 Days Golden Monkey and Chimpanzee trekking. you will start your drive to Volcanoes National Park, you will have a stopover at the Kigali Geno Cide memorial, here you will get to know about the 1994 Rwanda Genocide victims and how it was fought. You will have a lunch break and later proceed with your 2.5-hour drive to Kinigi/Musanze Town. You will check in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Golden Monkey Tracking and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After an early breakfast, drive to the park’s headquarters for a briefing about the golden monkey trekking. You will be assigned an armed ranger and 2 escorts and start the hike to the forests. The track is strenuous and therefore requires a certain level of fitness to reach the golden monkeys. You will encounter various forest bird species, butterflies small primates like monkeys, and baboons along the trail to the golden monkeys. Upon reaching the bamboo vegetation zone, you will be close to these great primates. Once you locate a troop, you will be given an hour to watch the monkeys while they carry on with their daily tasks, feeding, and playing from one branch to another of the bamboos. These golden monkey sexists are in harmony with the gorillas in Rwanda. 

After the one elapsing, you will descend back to the starting point to meet your guide and drive to your lodge for lunch before embarking on your Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forests and Batwa Community walk                                      

Following an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about the gorilla trekking activity. This is the main highlight of safari , you will be entertained by a group of Women living around the park, and the warden will brief you about the dos and don’ts of the gorilla trekking. You will then be assigned an armed ranger and 2 ranger guides with machetes to help you pave the trail where the need arises. With your packed lunch, water bottles, and cameras, you will then start the great trek into the dense forests to search for these gentle giants. On reaching the gorillas, you will be asked to put on your masks and then enjoy their presence 

for a full hour. You will be allowed to take as many pictures and videos as possible. As your time elapses, you will walk back to the headquarters and you will be awarded your gorilla trekking certificate for the great achievement accomplished. You will then drive back to your lodge for a hot lunch and relaxation and later prepare for a Batwa community walk. Here you will get a chance to know how the Batwa used to live in the forests. After the walk, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Kigali / Depature 

After breakfast, you will then get ready for the drive through the winding roads and the green rolling hills back to Kigali City. You will either be dropped off at Your lodge or the airport to end your 4 Days Golden Monkey and Gorilla Trekking Safari
